Summary

24 HIV negative subjects were randomized to assess the combination of loperamide (LOP) with either tipranavir 750mg BID (TPV), ritonavir 200mg BID (RTV), or TPV/RTV 750/200mg BID. LOP AUC decreased 51% and 63% with TPV and TPV/RTV, respectively while RTV increased the AUC of LOP 121%. However, the respiratory response to LOP was no different when LOP was combined with TPV or RTV as compared to LOP alone. Likewise, the combination of LOP with TPV/RTV was well tolerated.
